Using Your Own Containers for Centerpieces

Using Your Own Containers for Centerpieces

Using your own containers for centerpieces, whether they're family heirlooms or flea-market finds, is a wonderful way to add a personal touch to your special day. This past weekend Juliana and Colby celebrated their wedding at the Redondo Beach Historic Library, a lovely venue with spectacular views of the Pacific.

Juliana wanted to incorporate her family's collection of white milk glass vases into the whimsical, gardeny feeling of the decor. We grouped various sizes and shapes together  for the centerpieces and also had them on the bar, cocktail tables and placecard table. You can even see a small rectangular shape being used for the table number holder, above.

Here's another example from a past bride, Jennifer, who ordered vases online, went to the swap meet, and incorporated her own pieces to get the lush, vintage look she was going for.

Another bride brought back woven baskets from a memorable trip to Hawaii, and wanted to use them for her wedding centerpieces. Take a look at what we created for her below, in keeping with her "tropical magic" theme. (Even the votive candles were wrapped in a Ti leaf).

And finally, the choice of containers can be something as simple and earthy as terra cotta. For this wedding, we designed a beautiful and basic pave of sunflowers in cachepots provided by the groom's mother for an outdoor wedding brunch on the large lanai at their home in Malibu. With the sun-drenched colors of the Mediterranean reflected in the linens and flowers, a cheerful and casual mood was set with just a few simple elements.
